navigate_the_underground The chess_underground is not your typical blog as it contains a large quantity of archived material from numerous contributors, ranging from annotated games to essays to collected chess news items. You can even find archived chess artwork and cartoons. This material can be accessed in a number of ways, most of which are found on the left side of the index, under "pages" or "categories." There is also a search function at the bottom of the index. suggested_reading Everyone has seen the above header on some syllabus, brochure, memo, or instruction manual, but at the chess_underground, you hopefully won't be as bored with the direction it points. First and foremost is the publication of the chess_underground, unveiled in April of 2006, the UNDERGROUND_REVIEW. You can access this from the index through the link on the top left. Also, chess author Femi Oyekan has written a series of underground_essays on everything from the drinks in New Orleans to Kasparov vs. Karpov, which can be found under "essays, etc." technical_&_instructional You can also find a large collection of puzzles and instructive annotated games, including fully notated matches of Morozevich, Adams, Izoria, and others from major global top-level tournaments. Many of the underground_contributors also submit their own games, which can be replayed in online click-through format by following the appropriate blog posting or searching the "submitted games", "pete's games", "brian's games", or "angelo's games" pages. |
